Sashiko: Beyond the Basics
This class builds on the foundations covered in the Introduction to Sashiko workshop. We will cover how to transfer patterns on to fabric, stitch order for creating a hitomezashi (one-stitch) pattern, and how you can create variations from a juji-hanazashi stitch pattern.
5 students are required for the class to meet. If the workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

| Instructor Bio: | My name is Mariko Sugimori, owner of Mona & Zoe Mending. I’m a creative spirit, a mom, and first generation Japanese-American. I’m inspired by my mother’s boundless creativity and my father’s ability to fix absolutely anything.
I started my love of fiber arts as a child sewing doll clothes on my mom’s vintage Singer sewing machine and learning to knit at my local yarn store. My creative visible mending journey is partly inspired by my Japanese father instilling the concept of Mottainai, which roughly translates to “what a waste.” It’s a phrase commonly used to express regret of throwing something away when it still holds value. |
