Needlecraft

Discover the history of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique used to reinforce worn fabric and repair textiles, and learn its fundamentals through hands-on practice.

We’ll spend the evening slowing down and enjoying the meditative practice of stitching as you learn foundational embroidery techniques, from simple beginner stitches to creating your own small designs. You’ll leave with fun patterns, the confidence to keep practicing, and the knowledge to continue your embroidery journey at home.

This class builds on the foundations covered in the Introduction to Sashiko workshop. We will cover how to transfer patterns on to fabric, stitch order for creating a hitomezashi (one-stitch) pattern, and how you can create variations from a juji-hanazashi stitch pattern.
